Borovets is the oldest winter ski resort in Bulgaria. It is situated among the thick pine tree forest in the highest mountain on the Balkans – Rila. Today there are about 5000 beds. Kyustendil was founded in the 5th century B.C. by the Thracian tribes who settled here attracted by the hot mineral water springs. They built ancient baths as well as strong fortress wall which still remains and can be seen nowadays. Here is the Art Gallery named after the greatest Bulgarian artist Vladimir Dimitrov – the Master. You will be able to visit the Museum of Dimitar Peshev – the man who helped saving the Bulgarian jews during the Second World War.
